Infant Mortality Figures were begun as etchings, which proved too slow a medium for the immediacy of the problem.

Daily newspaper accounts of atrocities against infants propelled this series of etchings and monotypes. During the early 90’s, these accounts were of dead children found in the garbage or found crushed on the sidewalk from a fall from a window.

They had been discarded by a parent.

Often, newspapers were reporting this information  with a photograph of a little baby placed next to the parent and sometimes, another grieving relative.

It was truly sickening, and all I could think of was how this can happen.
